The Central Ghana Conference of Seventh-day Adventist Church (CGC) set March 10, 2013 to embark on a Conference-wide clean up exercise. All the 45 Districts within the Conference, Local Churches and Companies organized themselves to work in their communities to bring about healthy sanitation. The Districts within Kumasi and its environs were grouped into three (3) sectors, viz.
Abuakwa, Tanoso, Kwadaso, Agric-Nzema & South Suntreso churches & Companies held their exercise at SDA Hospital, Kwadaso and Siloam Hospital, Kwadaso.
Bantama, Bohyen, Maakro & Bremang churches & Companies held their exercise at Suntreso Government Hospital
Tafo Nhyiaeso, Tafo (Old Tafo), Atimatim & Mamponteng churches &+ companies held their exercise at Tafo Government Hospital
The number of Church members who took part in this exercise was very encouraging and overwhelming. District and local church Pastors, together with most of the Church members in a joyous mood, were seen holding all kinds of cleaning materials (BBC – broom, bucket and cutlass; including shovels, head-pans, etc. etc.) and busily working to bring good health to the public.
Local Churches and companies, aside the Kumasi Sectors, also undertook their respective exercise in their localities—hospitals, riversides, market places, palaces, District Assemblies Secretariat, etc.
The saying, “cleanliness is next to Godliness,” was the theme of the Adventist Church Clean Up Exercise.
At the close of the exercise in the hinterlands, Adventists received a lot of commendation from the DCEs, MPs, Assemblymen, Chiefs, etc.
